Here are just a few reasons supporting our plant-based foods project is one of the good. things you can do to protect the planet:
for Our Environment.
The future of dairy is plant-based. The carbon footprint of dairy production is simply massive, and it all starts with how cows are being fed.
In the U.S. alone, livestock feed takes up 66 percent of all calories produced by crops, and the process of raising and fertilizing these crops creates a huge amount of greenhouse gases. Biggest analysis to date reveals huge footprint of livestock - it provides just 18% of calories but takes up 83% of farmland.
for The Animals
When we choose non-dairy products over dairy products we help to avoid animal cruelty and exploitation.
Cows produce milk for the same reason humans do—to feed their babies! When a cow’s milk is taken from her to be sold to humans or made into cheese, it means that her baby can’t drink it. Instead, calves are fed with milk substitute that are completely unnatural. In nature, calves stay with their moms for nearly a year, but in the dairy industry, they’re taken away right after they’re born. Cows just want to be free, cuddled, and eat grass. This massive violence can be avoided and the solution is plant-based milk and cheese alternatives.
for Our Health
Health concerns about dairy milk and other dairy products are the top source of saturated fat in the American diet, contributing to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease. Studies have also linked dairy to an increased risk of breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers.
Alternative products based on nuts offer a rich quantity of fiber, protein and calcium which are essential for our daily diet.
